Japan may be one of the last major markets that get the all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4 but customers there are truly spoiled for choice when it comes to factory tuning options. Both TRD and Modellista released a wide variety of accessories for the SUV, including styling kits, performance parts, and roof racks. When going for the full package, the RAV4 is transformed to such an extent it’s hard to believe there are actually factory-approved custom parts. Starting off with the folks from TRD, they envisioned two different personalities for the RAV4: the “Field Monster” and the “Street Monster.” The former is based on the Adventure grade and it makes the RAV4 look like a true off-roader courtesy of wider plastic wheel arches, TRD side decals, TRD front and rear ornaments, 17-inch alloys shod with off-road tires and mud flaps. The “Street Monster” adopts an urban look thanks to an aggressive body kit featuring sportier bumpers and extended side skirts for a low stance. In this configuration, the RAV4 only has 121 mm ( in) of ground clearance left, making it rather useless off the beaten track. Besides these two packs, TRD also offers individual parts such as 20-inch TRD TF X-Limited alloys, performance dampers, custom mufflers, and roof racks. As with TRD, Modellista also developed two personas of the new RAV4. There’s the road-focused “Urban Solid Strider” and the off-road-oriented “Jaos,” each bringing significant changes to the SUV. The former version adopts a sharp-looking aero kit with additional LED lights in the front spoiler, front grille garnish, pointy side skirts, 19-inch alloys, and more. The Jaos kit based on the Adventure grade boosts the rugged character of the RAV4 courtesy of beefier bumpers with skid plates, additional side protection, C-pillar protective panels, and 20-inch wheels shod with Toyo tires.
